Three Warrants

Dixie Deadshot

Three Warrants is the debut record from Dixie Deadshot — the stage name of Raelee Calhoun, a Pike County, Kentucky native with a 2009 F-250, a grandmother's kitchen table, and exactly three warrants to her name. Across ten tracks of Appalachian outlaw rap, she lays the whole record on the table: a failed run at Lexington, a "label guy" who never had a label, and the county board meeting where she read a polluting company's campaign contributions into the public minutes forty-five seconds before the gavel came down. It's sharp, funny, and unapologetic — the sound of a woman who said what she said and doesn't do corrections. But underneath the defiance is a homecoming record. Songs like "Broke in October," "What the Road Does," and the origin story "Deadshot" trace what it costs to stay, to leave, and to come back — set against red October ridgelines and the long stretch of Route 119. The album closes with "Come Home (For the Third Time)," an acoustic return to the mountain, the creek, and a grandmother who doesn't ask where you've been, only whether you want coffee. Three Warrants is a record about being broke in a beautiful place, telling the truth at full volume, and realizing that home was never the consolation prize. ```
